Beyond Fear, Lies Freedom

Some wise person defined “fear” as “false evidence appearing real.” I have always felt that this definition did not go far Lightenough to capture the depths that fear can take you away from your authentic self.

Remember the last time you were immersed in fear? Was your heart racing and your breathing shallow? What was the most immediate thing on your mind – to get away or to make it stop?

Fear is the ego’s way to convince you to play small. The ego is that judgmental part of your mind that tells you everything you did wrong or why you will never be enough. Fear is the ego’s tool and it cuts like a knife, right through your self-esteem.

Fear can never destroy your authentic self. It just distracts you from it.

Your authentic self is always there, resting and waiting for your acknowledgement and acceptance. Which you can only do when you are no longer fearful.

When you glimpse the life you could have on the other side of fear – suddenly you become fearless.

If you knew you were 100% supported in everything you did, wouldn’t that make a difference in your choices?

When there is no fear, there is only freedom. To create a life you love.

Your Life is Like a Cruise Ship

Cruise shipWhen you go on a cruise, you enter a different world – focused on fun, sun, and relaxation. Your digital connections are left behind and it’s only you and your fellow travelers sharing the experience. You can be as active or sedentary as you want; you can eat all day or not; you can even play sports, work out, or dance until the wee hours of the morning.

Life is about what you choose to create.

While you are busy on the ship, you sometimes get so caught up in your creation that you forget you are on a large ship in the middle of the ocean. The behind the scenes view that supports your ability to create is not readily apparent, until you focus on it. Then you begin to notice…

  • the staff who makes the delicious meals, cleans your room every day and turns down your bed;
  • the crew who make sure that the boat is stable, even in rough seas; and
  • the navigator who ensures that the ship reaches it’s destination, even with 40 + mph cross winds.

Life is like a cruise ship. The surface of your life may have waves or rough days; winds may blow you off course, but if you know your destination you can make adjustments and continue to move forward.

And just like the ocean supports the ship, the Universe supports you. The ocean does not discriminate or treat some ships differently than others. The Universe is the same – it doesn’t matter whether you are wealthy or poor, young or old, male or female.  The behind-the-scenes support is always there, no matter who you are or what ship you happen to be sailing on.

If you knew you were 100% supported in everything you did, wouldn’t that make a difference in your choices?

When there is no fear, there is only freedom. To create a life you love.

Please join me this Thursday, February 12, 2015, as I explore these ideas and so much more on the Heart Dancing Radio Show. My special guest is Ashley Sibille, who has created CALYL (Create a Life You Love). (The details of how to listen live are shown below in the Dancing Girl graphic.)

We are going to dance on the waves of how to create your best life!

How to Find Peace

You are a creator, whether you acknowledge it or not. What do you create? Your very own-customized-made-to-order version of reality.

But what if your view is filtered by stories from your past that cast a different meaning on the events before you? Would that create a conflict with another person who saw the same thing?

Of course! It happens all the time. Most people work through their differences but there may be lingering anger, frustration or regret that surfaces at a later time.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be at peace in every moment, knowing that what seems to be happening to you is actually the best thing possible? To be happy with yourself no matter what was going on in your life, because you know that you are worthy? That as you travel down your life’s path, to know that All is Good?

I knHD Adow a wonderful young woman who lives just that way – happy, peaceful and full of love. Jenny Grace will share her life philosophy on the Heart Dancing Radio Show, Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. cst.

Are You Ready to See & Break Free?

WhatyouSeeWe were over at friends watching the Dallas Cowboys v. Green Bay Packers game last Sunday. The now famous “catch-incomplete pass” generated a lot of discussion, especially since we are Cowboys fans. Despite the call by the official (let’s not go there), it reminded me that everyone sees our world through the filter of our stories.

We saw a completed pass (his elbow and knee hit the ground while he still had obvious possession of the ball). The referee saw something different.  Same event, different interpretations.

How does that apply to you? You may have stories from your past that hold you back from your best self. When the same or similar situation comes up again, if you tell yourself the old story, you will see the present moment though the lens of your past interpretation. And miss what is right in front you!

On Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 9:00 cst on the Heart Dancing Radio show, (listen at AwakenedRadio.net or on the Tunein app), I will share a simple process that can help you reframe stories from your past that are holding you back. It’s quick, easy to remember and works immediately!

My guest on the radio show this week knows all about breaking free of the emotional baggage you have been carrying around. Michelle Jeffrey is a motivational speaker, self-empowerment & personal development teacher, Integrative Coach, Infinite Possibilities Trainer, and thought leader for the next generation.

2015 is My Gutsy Year

Getting gutsy is all about stepping outside your comfort zone to reach your goals and live a life that makes you truly happy. This post is my entry for Jessica Lawlor’s Get Gutsy Essay Contest.

2015 is My Gutsy Year

I am an attorney. There – I admitted it. I practiced law for 23 years, then walked away and thought that I would be able to leave it behind, like an old outfit that no longer fit.

No such luck.  Because I am an attorney and always will be.

But that is not the end of my story. I can now declare with confidence and passion, that “I am an attorney who practices metaphysical techniques and shares what I have learned with others.”

That is the first time I have declared those two ways of being in the same sentence…please give me a minute so I can pause and take a deep breath. Now, it is integrated into my self.

Being an attorney means that I can’t stop myself from analyzing arguments for their logic, applying the rules or laws involved and deciding on an outcome. But I have learned to temper that analysis with something more powerful than man-made law.

Love.

When you lead first with love, you discover that your judgments dissolve and the criticism and advice you were about to share changes to encouragement and support. You begin to see your world differently, because you changed your perspective from law toGoal Love love. Connections and unity become the norm rather than the exception.

When your goal is love, love is all you see.

I have two dear friends who both practice family law from the love perspective. They zealously represent their clients in the courtroom, but they also share empowering metaphysical information and techniques that allow the person to move through the pain of divorce into acceptance and healing. Who would have ever thought that could work? But it does, and all of the people involved in each family drama are elevated because of this unique way to practice law.

I did not choose to stay in the legal profession. Instead, I remade myself from the inside out and now choose to step into my life with authenticity, courage and boldness. My books, blog, email newsletters and radio show are all based on the following:

My new mantra is Let. Love. Lead. And I love to dance from the heart.

Heart Dancing Radio

I have jumped off a cliff (that’s what it feels like) and agreed to host my very own, one hour radio show! The details are below but I wanted to share a little bit about my guest tonight.

Havalynn Russell is one of those people who makes you feel better as soon as you hear her voice or you are in the same room. She raises the positive energy of everyone around her. Her love of people and “in the moment” awareness of connection is the melody that plays in her life. Compassion and acceptance are two words that describe her, but words cannot capture her luminous spirit.

To help you see what I am describing, please take a minute and watch one of these short videos.

Please join me tonight as Havalynn share’s her journey from darkness to light. You will walk away feeling lighter, happier and maybe even dancing!

It is Impossible to Fail

This morning, I was talking on the phone with a close friend about my latest adventure (Heart Dancing Radio). I could hear the fear behind my words and knew that she would pick up on it. I tried to mask it with the usual social phrases, but I had no doubt that she would go straight to the heart of my confusion.

It didn’t take long.

“What are you afraid of?” she asked gently.

I had been asking myself that question all morning, but when she mirrored my own doubt, it suddenly became clear.

“Failure.”

I waited for the encouraging words…the pep talk…the “don’t focus on failure but success” advice. It never came. Instead, she asked another question that rocked my world.

“Are you willing to be unique in a world of conformity?”

It was as if time stopped. The mind chatter that usually pounded in my head froze and all was silent, waiting for my answer.

Was I willing to be unique? To step out of my carefully constructed persona and into my deepest truths? If I shared those truths and didn’t receive the accolades or “success” I craved, would I be a failure?

The answer to all of these questions lay before me, glistening in the sun, like a compass pointing to the path less traveled. I smiled to myself, turned toward the smaller, single path that could only be seen where the compass lay. The rest of the path was obscured and blurry, but it didn’t matter. I had found my direction and knew that whatever happened to me on the path of uniqueness, it was impossible to fail.

I laughed at this insight and actually felt the fear disappear from my body and my mind. A deep breath opened my heart and I danced with “the one that brought me.” After several minutes of celebration, I returned to the conversation.

“I just realized something,” I declared to my friend. “When I am standing in my uniqueness, I can’t fail!”

She laughed and with love, joy and acceptance, acknowledged my decision.

“Well done!”
